Spring in Lake Chelan

Spring is in full swing here in Lake Chelan. The birds are chirping, the hills are slowly turning green, and the sun is shining! We can’t get enough of these beautiful days when the weather is warm and the valley is still quiet. While we realize that this spring is different from what we’re used to, we thought we’d share our favorite ways to soak in the springtime beauty.

BEACH WALKS
In the off-season, the lake levels are quite a bit lower than what many visitors see in the summer months. As the water gradually creeps higher and higher, we recommend taking advantage of the extra stretches of sand that will eventually be covered. Grab a friend or take the family for an easy spring stroll by the water. We promise it’s good for the mind, body, and soul.

HIKES
There’s no better way to take in the unreal beauty of the Lake Chelan Valley than hiking your way to some serious views. One local favorite is the Elephant’s Head trail up the Butte. It’s about 4-miles roundtrip and offers incredible views of the lake as well as both Chelan and Manson. You’ll even see the Chelan Gorge and Columbia River from the top. In late April and early May, you’ll enjoy the many wildflowers at their peak. Paired with the milder temperatures of spring, it’s one of the best times of year to explore.

TASTE THE SEASON’S NEWEST WINES
Springtime means new releases of white and rosé wines from our favorite wineries, so of course it’s one of our favorite times of the year! You may not be able to go wine tasting at the moment, but you can arrange to pick up wine from your favorite wineries or get it shipped to your door. Buy a bottle (or two or three, who’s counting?) and enjoy with dinner and a gorgeous spring sunset.

ENJOY A PICNIC ON THE LAKE
Pack a lunch or order to-go from your favorite local eatery and have a picnic by the water! Find a quiet, low-traffic place near the lake to set up your spread. Some of our favorite spots include Willow Point, Manson Bay, Riverwalk Park, and the Woodin Avenue Landing in Lakeside. Nothing says spring like spreading out a blanket next to the lake and relaxing under the warm sun.

We hope you take advantage of all the opportunities to enjoy this gorgeous spring that our valley has to offer. We know we are!
